Looking for a bit of feel-good news? Meet Arch Clubs – local friendship clubs across Ireland that bring together children, teens, and adults with intellectual and additional needs. These clubs are all about having fun, making friends, and feeling included—something we could all use a bit more of!Â
What’s an Arch Club?Â
Arch Clubs are run by volunteers and offer a safe, welcoming space for people with additional needs to socialise, take part in activities, and build confidence. From arts and crafts to discos and day trips, there’s always something going on.Â
The first club started back in 1976 in Dublin, when a group of parents wanted more social opportunities for their kids. Fast-forward to today, and there are now over 50 Arch Clubs across 15 counties.Â
What Do They Do?Â
Each club is a bit different, but here’s a taste of what they usually offer:Â

For members, it’s about much more than just activities. It’s a place to feel accepted, meet new friends, and grow in confidence. For families, it’s a great support network. And for volunteers, it’s a chance to give back and be part of something really meaningful.Â
