1. How do you usually start your day when nothing is pressing?

Early. My day usually starts at 6am. I like that quiet window before everything gets busy. Coffee in hand, catching up on the news, and a few minutes to think through the day ahead. It’s a small pocket of calm before things properly get going.

2. Tea or coffee? And what’s your ideal cup?

Definitely coffee. A strong flat white, no syrups, no drama. The first one of the day feels like a small ceremony.

3. What’s a small routine or habit you quietly enjoy?

I love writing a proper to-do list and physically crossing things off. It sounds simple, but it gives me a sense of order. I also really value leaving my desk tidy in the evening, it’s my way of drawing a line under the day.

4. What song, book, or programme do you always return to?

Music is my reset button. I love classic R&B, Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye, the kind of music that just settles you. And I’m always drawn to biographies. I’m fascinated by people’s journeys, what shaped them, what tested them, and what kept them going.

5. What’s something people often get wrong about you?

That if I’m quiet, I don’t have an opinion. In reality, I’m usually taking everything in, weighing it up carefully, and thinking about the bigger picture before I speak.

6. What’s a moment in your life that changed how you see the world?

Working closely with families during some of their most vulnerable moments. It changes you. It strips life back to what really matters and reminds you how important compassion and dignity are in every interaction.

7. What values matter most to you when making difficult decisions?

Integrity and fairness. I always come back to asking myself, is this the right thing to do, especially for the people who rely on us most?

8. What has leadership taught you about yourself?

That I’m more resilient than I sometimes think. It’s also taught me that leadership isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about listening, staying steady, and creating space for others to thrive.

9. What keeps you grounded when things feel demanding or uncertain?

Perspective. The work we do matters, but so do the people around me: family, friends, and the team. A good conversation and a bit of honesty go a long way.

10. What always helps you switch off and reset?

Meditation… when I’m being disciplined. And when I’m not, a good true crime series, nothing like a murder documentary to “relax”! Somehow, it completely switches my brain off.

11. What’s a simple pleasure that never fails to lift your mood?

Good coffee, good music, and good company, preferably all at the same time.

12. If you had a completely free weekend, how would you spend it?

With my family, always. Family is everything to me. A perfect weekend would be something simple: time together, plenty of laughs, and heading off to a basketball game with my youngest. Those moments on the sidelines, just being present, are the ones that really matter.

13. What’s something you’re genuinely looking forward to this year?

My oldest is graduating from medical school. It’s a huge milestone, and I couldn’t be prouder. Watching your child work so hard towards something and finally seeing it come to life, there’s nothing quite like it. It often reminds me how special it is to see people grow and succeed, whether that’s your family or your team;  there’s a deep sense of pride in both.

14. What’s a joke, saying, or story that never fails to make you smile?

“Everything will be grand.” It’s such an Irish phrase, but there’s real comfort in it. Most of the time, with the right people around you, it really will be.
